This can't be true. ANet said in an interview that they intentionally made the run possible, so that players weren't FORCED to play through the whole storyline if they didn't want to.

Who are you to tell me that I have to play through the game on every character? I played through it twice. If I want to get run, I'll buy a run. Trust me, it doesn't affect you since I hench anything I do, since 99% of the players are retarded, including those who never get runs. Don't think that simply doing all your missions and getting those swords through the shields makes you a better player, it doesn't.

On your way to work please stop by the Rumor Mill to spread the word.

Just because a bunch of people in different towns have said, won't make it true.

Someone probably just started the rumor and it spread like wildfire as the running services can be somewhat shady if you don't find the right person.

Playing elementalist is nothing like playing warrior or necromancer. So that disproves your statement. You get a better knowledge of your new profession by playing using it.

I have heard nothing of banned runners, except those who scam by saying "Pay halfway" then leave after payment.

And don't bother asking them if they were a legit runner and got banned, there is no way to proove they didn't scam people.

Out of the runners I know as friends, none has been banned or suspened. Most use running as their only income.

All I can say to you is as much as your answer tries to be smart, it misses the point, ergo it wasn't smart, really!

Just to put an end to this, here is a link from the Guild Wars homepage for Fansite Friday interview #56, 8/26/05 with GameAmp. In it Gaile and other Dev's say that they allowed for running when making the game.

But I just spoke with Lead Designer James Phinney, and he assured me that we will continue to assess the situation and we will come up with solutions if the scales tip towards the negative.
Would be interesting if someone from a.net could comment on whether this promise still holds true, especially considering the sorry state of affairs in the crystal desert right now!

Weasel words that don't commit to any action. The first time I was aware of problems or inbalance caused by runners was low levels being run to Drok's for armor so they could own in Ascalon arena. The problem was beat to death in the forums and nothing ever came of it. I don't think there will be anything done to change this situation now.

It's not like the desert is particularly difficult or anything. You can hench all three missions at level 5 without too much difficulty.

The thing that I don't like about running is that it is actually pretty much required for new players without a guild to get run around the desert, even through one or two of the ascencion missions just because it is impossible to find a group.

If I were a first time player, and had to spend 3k for a desert run, I think I would quit.

don't forget, when you are on your second and third chars, you are not simply going through each mission a second or third time, it may be 4, 5, maybe a dozen times if you failed before.

Most of the missions in the game I have done about 15-20 times, exception being the last six missions. You help out your friends, guildmates, etc. You end up doing them a lot. Why do I want to not be run at that point?

Why lost time making the same boring quests? Bring back ash of someone daughter back? Give a breack! I make all the way with my ele, enjoy the game... and now repeat all the way with another player? Well with my ranger i make all the way fasttt, and a first of all a fast run to forge to get a new armor... with my warrior i make the fastest run i can 15 min in pre, 2 days to get all free quests skils, and some days to cap all i can and a weak to get points to buy or cap the rest...
If someone like to repeat, and repeat the same boring quests have troubles at home... let the runners live, they are good to skip boring... if someone newbie whant to skip skills, rewards... well he is a newbie Long live to boring killer...
P.S I remenber the way to iron mines 3 hours killing everything at way to get exp and clean path... so fun i enjoy it... but twice? Forget!

There's one thing I completely fail to understand when people say they don't want to do the same quests, missions, etc. they did with an earlier character. Everything AFTER the point you get run to is also the same for every character, why do you play at all? Really, this isn't me trying to be a smartass, I'm completely serious.

i doubt that ANET would ban people for running

THeres more to the story than what these people are saying, there has to be something involved with one side scamming the other or they wouldn't have banned.

ANET does have the logs of everything that happens so It'd be great if they just showed that to everyone to prove their reason for banning.
